I was desperate to get into journalism and it was beginning to disappear over the horizon. So I phoned up the express gossip column. They bought that off me and instead of giving me cash, I said, can I have a couple of shifts? And I got better and better and better at it. Didn't enjoy it. I was drinking too much. It should have been great. But I was just oddly unfulfilled and unsatisfied. Then channel five were launching a show, daytime show, which Matthew Wright was helming who I knew from the showbiz journalism beat. Just out of nowhere, they just came along and said, do you fancy doing this?
