The Sphinx and the Search for Truth
Nietzsche asks the same question he was asking during his early essay on truth and lies in the non-moral sense or in the extra moral sense. Why would this desire for the truth arise? Assuming that we're not indeed rational beings, that we're in many ways irrational beings. The will to truth is like the Sphinx, this enigmatic impulse within us to question, to ask questions, to inquire about these riddles. We are inquiring about the very nature of the will to truth.
