The Golden Chain of the Church Fathers
I think it probably has to do with the fact that I'm 2000 years removed. There's a beautiful series of books that's put out by Interversity Press called the Ancient Christian commentary on Scripture. So all the time, if I'm puzzled by a verse, I go there, I get like a dozen of the fathers. This is all part of the same church, East and West. We should all be thinking along the same lines, even though we're thinking in different idioms. It's just the way fair enough the way the neighborhood shakes out.
