The thing that powered the NFL to be such a dominant force in society today is fantasy football and sports betting. There's like 30 or 40 million people a year in the United States that play fantasy football, thus making it the centerpiece of conversation with their closest friends and families. And they ticket that whole package basically was to cater to two audiences, one, bars and restaurants who want to show multiple games within their establishment.

The NFL — it’s almost synonymous with America today. And its history is a fascinating lens to explore the nation’s development over the last 100 years, from WWII to TV and suburbs to the Internet and social media. What began as a quasi-illicit league in small midwestern towns is now the single largest media property in the world today by revenue.
