Franco and the Nationalists

Franco was able to successfully collect all kinds of taxes. Tax evasion was limited, with the middle class and wealthy spaniards being willing, even eager, to sacrifice. The nationalists were able to float bonds to foreign buyers at reasonable interest rates. And finally, as franco rolled up the country, the nationalists made sure that the first thing to arrive in liberated towns was food. I read this book as i continue my own study of modern left right civil wars. I have finland and spain under my belt. I am moving on to othe such as chile and mexico.
