The Objection to Cruelty

We take it for granted that when someone is cruel, there's an objection to be made. I don't think we actually need to appeal to any further reason to be concerned about cruelty other than the fact that what it's aiming at is something that is bad for people to experience. It's a mistake to take the phrase good for me or good for you to be restricted to cases in which something is good for someone as a means to a further end. We can have mistaken ideas about what is good for us.
