The Status of Genes as Replicators in the Group Selection Model
A natural selection should not be taken as an argument against group selection. The status of genes as replicators has no bearing upon that in the group selection model. In all cases, as you say, the gene is the entity that satisfies the role of the replicator. And for a gene-savvy, only genes of replicators satisfy the role of beneficiaries.
