A Tale of Vus and Sathogua

The first mention of Sathogua in print wasn't until 1931, Lovecraft started borrowing the name in 1929 after reading Smith's manuscript. The best-known reference is probably in the Whisperer in Darkness. Vus comes across a cave distinguished from the others by most evil potpourri of smells and boy potpourri does spell awful. Then he discerned in a dark recess, the formless bulking of a cushioned mass. And the mass stirred a little it is approach and put forth with infinite slothfulness a huge and toad-shaped head.
