The Importance of Playing Count on Spotify

i feel like just because you have a high number of listeners in a city doesn't necessarily equate to more people caring about your music in that city it wasn't an organic reason. i think the issue there is just that it's a quality of information and how reductive it is  it could be really insightful i think and lead to unexpected bands getting booked places potentially. If it's just play count yeah then you could just have a coffee shop band there or something and fail but i think i mean does it work have i mean if that apparently it works otherwise i wouldn't keep doing it i assume right? I agree there's certain bands that have made it just some spotify like hill
