Hattie's Life Story

Hattie had success in vaudeville but always found herself forced back into domestic work. In 19 31, when hattie was 38, she decided to take one last stab at show business by moving to los angeles. Her brother sam was already there do a local radio show and playing bit parts in movies, including the public enemy with jimmy cagney. Soon she was making more money in a week as a film extra than she could in a full month as a maid. She felt her real art was never going to be in movies, but in the kind of song and dance stage work that she had been doing for almost 20 years.
