Bain went to Harvard Business School, planning to get a PhD in economics. He ended up working as an accountant because he wanted to learn about the world. Bain worked with Thunder Bradstreet on figuring out credit strategy during his summer job at Bain Company before joining Bain Capital. The company invested $2 million into staples store that turned out to be a big success.
