Male gulls have a habit of doing something called sneak spawning. They'll wait until a female is releasing eggs in a nearby nest and they'll zip through to try and fertilize some of them. So it could be a matter of, you know, potentially raising their own offspring. Another factor that we look at is that intelligence and learning ability also play into kleptoparasitism. And the thing is, it could potentially be all of these factors that influence egg stealing.
