Every segment every section of the RNA thread basically came from a different progentor. What we estimate was around four years ago or so it was actually the most recent common ancestor of SARS-CoV-2 and the virus we have already sampled in bats. So to my understanding with the current data the recombination mostly happens in horseshoe bats because they're the ones that interact with each other all the time and multiple infections.
