Chocolate Cravings and Inflammatory Markers in the Blood of Women

US researchers looked at 259 women aged 14 to 44 over two menstrual cycles. 57% said they had moderate to severe cravings for sugary or salty foods. There was a range of inflammatory markers that were elevated in the bloods of women with sweet cravings and different markers in those with salty cravings. That could be related to differing levels of hormones throughout the menstrual cycle or potentially even stress.
