How Herd Litchka Built a Racial Brain Collection at the Smithsonian

In 1903, Herd Litchka began a new chapter in Washington, D.C. He got hired to set up the Division of Physical Anthropology at the United States National Museum. It was around this time when he began looking for brains to collect. Most of the collection was acquired through the early 20th century.
