The Obligation of All of Us
St. Peter is making a very, very clear point that all of us have an obligation to each other. That's one of the key pieces where St. Peter talks, in fact, where Paul talks about this as well in Colossians chapter three. Go back and please reread or re-listen to the end of chapter two. He is saying you have an obligated to each other and that is absolute.
