The Father of the Bride Pays for the Wedding

Father of the bride still expected to pay or is that tradition over the question? It's an open discussion now when the engagement happens. If you have a parent pay for it, then they get say in who's invited and a large portion of their say in the wedding. You're opening up an entire can of worms and letting your parents choose to core and choose location. I don't know if people everyone listening here understands how expensive weddings are.
