We feel out of control, some need isn't being met and we want to avoid that emotion by controlling what's outside. So how do we deal with that inner feeling, how do we get away from that? We start demanding, aka we become the consequence - if you don't do this I'm going to be mad at you or abandon you. Whether we say that consciously or kind of imply it, whether either our body language or our energy or some subtle word choices, it's felt. If there's an or else, an implicit or else at the end of your sentence that's likely a demand.
