CNN's Dan Rivers says the seven hour hoax was so bogous that it wasn't even worth commenting on. He points out that when they bring up trivia, there's a reason: If you can't deal with the existential problems and you go to the trivia, or if you can't arrest the felon, you go after the misdemeanor.
