The Reaction of Aristotle to the Modern World

Aristotle's theory of the world was based on the idea that everything about the world is fundamentally intelligible. Hume says you don't really understand in this sense why anything works as it does. Locke gave a nice speculation that if we could look inside things and see the minute parts of matter, then we'd be able to know what they were going to do.
