The Chain of Distributions, or Hyper Parameters
In election forecasting, we look at how different distributions are shaped by what we call hyper parameters. For example, when it's sunny outside, it's much more likely to be this normal distribution than when its rainy. And so you can even introduce external data into the model in a way that is predictive. We also talk about hierarchical models and try to figure out where these disinambiguating trends come from. The final episode of Yendy on BBC Radio 5 Live airs tonight at 9pm GMT.
