The Great Famine in Ukraine

The russian imperial government was overthrown in a series of revolutions. In 19 18, ukraine established a provisional government and declared its independence. For about the next four years, it fought to keep that dence. This involved political, diplomatic and military efforts against other nations. It lasted until 19 22, when ukraine became the ukranian soviet socialist republic. That same year, parts of the soviet union faced a famine. At first, soviet leaders refused international aid, but eventually a campaign for famine relief was under way in soviet russia.
