Junger's Book Is a Shoe That Fits Different Feet
Junger maintained a largely consistent philosophy throughout his very long life. He opposed what was and is common to all modern ideologies. A free man is not one who does as he pleases from moment moment unbound by any obligation. Junger's core belief was that a man should be free, that is, free to choose a path that makes him a virtuous human being. The book is narrated by a man never named but seems youngish. It takes place in the mauritania, the western magreb - also known as umusville.
