The King Smirked, What Would He Say?
A king bet his best archers a ton of wine, ten tons of ale and 400 bows. He also offered pardons to those who could shoot better than him for forty days. Robin hood won the bet but then shot so well that he all but split an arrow with another arrow. John and will didn't do as well as robin - no one ever does -- but they did well enough to unseat the second and third place winners.
