Aristotle's poetics was better known and more influential in 16th century England than people had heretofore of thought. But even if we do for sure that Shakespeare read the poetics, there's still a lot of questions that would remain. Tragedy is something very alien for Christian sensibility; Aristotle doesn't really care about moral character.
