Addiction to Power and Descending into Chaos

The protagonist, Kermit, becomes addicted to power and disregards the CIA's warnings, causing riots to erupt in Iran. Mo sad, D. is shocked to learn of the mistreatment of Americans in Iran and orders a ban on demonstrations, unaware of the deceit and betrayal happening around him. The chapter ends with a comparison to a circus spectacle and questioning the CIA's support of such actions.
