How to Build a Fortress in the Middle Ages

Around the year 14 hundred, certain groups were able to put together task forces who understood how to use gunpowder. They could control primitive artillery and write early cannons. The flat, rectilinear walls of such a castle would slowly weaken, crack and eventually crumble. So as part of this arms race, castle builders started to innovate in an attempt to counter the effects of cannon. And they started to build rounded castles with oval or circular walls. Those rounded walls could absorb and withstand the impact of a fired stone more effectively.
