What's the Problem of Political Philosophy?

In political philosophy, I think there's an argument to be made that most of the sort of Western traditions of political philosophy start out by saying they're trying to make a contract. And then the interesting problem is how could we scale this up so that we have a democracy where people can trade off what one person wants in another or you have really nice mechanisms for getting people to trade off what they want. That's kind of the picture about what the problem of political philosophy is. If you look in the Asian tradition, you look at somebody like Minceus, they have a really different picture. Their picture is look in a family and look at these deep ties that enable people to care for
