CHAPTER

The Fifth Way Is Taken From the Governance of Things

The fifth way is taken from the governance of things. We see that there are things without knowledge, such as natural bodies that operate for an end. And Thomas says that it's clear that these act for an end because they always are more frequently operate in the same way. So if we can show that unintelligent things which act for anend have a principle for their end, then we can shows that intelligent things do too. The idea is that when something when a natural thing acts for an end without knowledge at acts who is to achieve some sort of goal and if it did not achieve that goal, it wouldn't have realized what it was said out to achieve.
