Calcium Phosphate Stones - Is There a Risk?

Risk factors for calcium phosphate stones include an elevated urine pH and hypercalciria. Lowering urine pH can be accomplished through increasing urine volume or reducing ammonia genesis by changes in your diet. Urine acidification can be done through ascorbic acid but be careful about increasing urine oxalate levels, elmothionine and a medication called methenamine hip rate which is used for patients with recurrent UTIs.
