Meditation 2.1 continues to serve as a reminder that I fall short of the stoic ideal when it comes to accepting and loving by fellow humans who are, meddling, ungrateful, violent, treacherous, envious, and unsociable. But falling short is not an excuse to stop trying. Stoicism does not entail self-sacrificing altruism. Instead, it is a call to live as an excellent human being in accordance with human reason and universal reason. There is no sacrifice in that life. There is only good flow.
