How to Write a Great Song
I'm not just a fan of straight ahead bands like Led Zeppelin or The Beatles. I love jazz. I grew up with all different kinds of music and classical, which I still love. For instance, I'm really into writing bass lines and the relationship of the bass lines to the chords are different than the normal. But I think also, simpler is better. It's not about quantity. It's about quality. Even when we wrote Love's a Battlefield, we wrote the whole thing on one day but then we spent another week coming up with the one line. We came up with hundreds.
