Anti-Catholic Prejudice in English Politics

Anti catholic prejudice will be a feature of english life and politics for some time. Historians have found it all rather difficult to deal with because it is rather alien to us. But by understanding why, in the north atlantic archipelago, the scots and English were united by this visceral terror of the threat of papacy, actually we might understand little about what they valued about their own religion too.
