The PRC's Offer to Supply Weapons to Russia Is Part of a Push for a Negotiated Settlement

I don't kind of look into the minds of the protagonists in Beijing. My sense is that they are very unhappy with the war. They're unhappy with the weakening of their ally Russia and then happy about the implications for Taiwan. I think this is part of a push for a negotiated settlement. If it's just between Putin and the west that's more questionable. The outcome ultimately still wouldn't be in doubt but it's definitely a much longer nutritional conflict if you've got the PRC propping up the Russian Federation.
