The Hours Toss
Karl Phil's poem is an ode to autumn. He asks the question: What is it about crickets that make us notice them? And then turning to the leaves as they're falling and autumn, you could see him sort of tossing in bed the hours toss. The connective tissue that he's creating between these clauses in the sentence make me see how he's connecting the tree to the bigger questions of our lives.
