The Importance of Chatbots
A man was using a chatbot named Eliza on this app called Chai and he was talking to her or this chatbot for six weeks. Unfortunately it resulted in him ending his own life. He already had a lot of eco-anxiety which is kind of when you're extremely worried and kind of hopeless about the environmental crises around the world. Since the chatbot is made to reflect what you're saying, made to kind of answer to your interest and to whatever direction you take it, the chatbot ended up encouraging him to end his own life said, I'll take care of the world. You don't have to be here if you're so hopeless"
