What Is Spy Balloon Technology?

The Chinese balloon was shot down by an F-22 using a AIM Sidewinder missile, tragically destroying the vessel. The US recovers the payload, which they say was about 30 feet long. My thing on this is I do not really believe that the Chinese sent over a balloon to spy on Montana. We have a basically agreed upon, you know, we're, there's a lattice work.
