The movie is about just sort of the performative nature of who we all are. Amy's not mad at Nick for being who he is necessarily. She's mad that that's not what she believed him to be, which is a major theme in the book. And then like, there's that line of that marriage. It's like this twisted lifetime movie where it's as big as it could possibly be.
