The Pessimistic and Indefinite World
I tend to put China in the pessimistic and definite quadrant today because it thinks that it has a very definite view of the future. The indefinite pessimistic version has been probably Japan since the 1990s and Europe at present where the future is worse, but you don't know what to do. There's different types of disciplines that I think tend to dominate in these contexts. And so that an optimistic, indefinite world isn't actually possible in the long run.
