The Collective Unconscious
The most complex models are constructed in the cortex, as I said. The model of your world is very adaptive and constantly changing. Then you have simpler models that use to go deeper and deeper and deeper down. There are no images deep down. These are very simple models. We all carry them. They're collective. This is the collective unconscious, in my opinion. It's not this magical, mystical domain where these beings are inhabiting. If I asked you to draw a mother, or something, you would come up with something quite different to me. And appealing to the collective unconscious to explain anything that is otherwise inexplicable is a cop-out to me.
