The Passover Sacrifice

The second half of the sacrifice is really what it's all about. God doesn't just want dead bodies and drained blood, he wants to restore communion. How is that symbolically enacted in the old testament? By eating the victim in sacrificial meal. Because that is what restores family communion. And that's what the covenant is all about. So jesus says, it is finished. What began in the upper room is now finished on the cross. But the sacrifice of passover is not complete until you eat the lamb.
