The Importance of Rationality in Renaissance Discourses

The idea is that just like animals might threaten to become too human by being rational, or for your example of a dog that can perceive universals. So the philosopher might want to think about abstaining from eating creatures that might possess rationality. Conversely, what happens in countering cannibals is that we have human-looking creatures who eat each other. So again, it's difficult to trace a clear line between humans and animals.
