Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Jesus Christ. If we don't know the Scriptures of Israel, we can't understand the things that Jesus does or the things that he says. The Church recognizes that the Psalms are ultimately the prayers of Jesus. And so when we pray the Liturgy of the Hours, what are we doing? We're hortening in on that conversation between the Father and the Son.
