The Trinity in Paul's Letters
We have been caught up in a tradition of reading which has a lot of good things in it but at key points it has sold its soul to the spirit of the age, namely contractualism and individualism. It mobilizes a particular account of who god is that isn't there in Paul's letters. The depth of the doctrine of the Trinity is absolutely vital for understanding Paul. What we see instead is a profoundly participationist theology that is effectively about the unconditional love of Godwho sends Jesus Christ.
