Introduction

In 2022, Europe has managed to safeguard the security of energy supply in spite of being hit by a huge energy price shock. In addition, EU industry has been comparatively resilient and we have not seen a large recession. As the peak of the crisis now seems to be behind us, so energy prices have come down significantly. Europe now needs to assess its longer-term industrial repercussions. And with me are two researchers of Bruel, Georg Tachman and Giovanni Scaravati, who have written a paper on just this topic - the EU's industrial response to the energy crisis.
