How Dominic Zamm's Mortgage Turned Down His Application for a Ukrainian Refugee in the UK
More than 150,000 Ukrainian refugees have made the UK their home since Vladimir Putin launched his full-scale invasion of their country. Many British hosts have invited them to live in their homes. But one money box listener has found the very public displays of welcome are in sharp contrast to how he was treated by one of Britain's biggest mortgage lenders. Dominic Zamm is a professor at the University of Reading and opened his house to a mother and her nine-year-old daughter from Ukraine through what's called the government-backed homes for Ukraine scheme. So far, so good - until things started to go wrong.
