"I'm lady istahar. What do i do on the internet? Ah, that's kind of a big, a big thing, right?" "i hate traditional academia," she says in response to questions about her work. She also wants to challenge how eastern european russian soviet history is portrayed by academics and other people who have studied it. 'You can't find anything without every single horrible thing that's ever happened in the history of the soviet union,' she adds. The interview has been edited for length and clarity.
