The Brothels of the Classical Period
One oval is one-sixth of a drakma, the daily salary of a public servant during the classical period. Since making love to one's wife was really only meant for child production, brothels provided men with a ready alternative. The porn eye, no doubt, lived a miserable existence and as you might expect, they were often forced by their pornoboscos to make alterations to their physical appearance in order to make more money.
