i found a good article that ps to put henry james's late period style in perspective. It's not quite what you might find in ulysses or in virginia wolf, for example. But it has some parallels. As i've talked about before, james is kind of a bridge from the dickenss and george eliot's of the world into the modernists. He's a bridge in time period and also in style.
