What Does the Word Grounding Mean in This Context?
When you say multimodality for those listening in you're referring to more than just text more than just images all kinds of sensory what we would think of as sensory modalities are information modalities for humans. So right now it's images text videos and audio because those are the main ones but once you have those then you can start thinking about other specific modalities maybe sort of sub modalitiesright so it's unclear whether code as a modality is a part of text or if it's something else. Yeah so there's all kinds of interesting questions about what the modality really is. My PhD thesis actually was about grounding meaning in perceptual modalities where I also incorporated olfactory semantics
